How to Use Scrabble Word Finder UK?
Our Scrabble Word Finder helps you find words that can be formed from your available letters. Enter your letters, choose the appropriate dictionary and use the filters to narrow your results.
1. Enter Your Letters
Type the letters you have into the search box above. You don’t need to arrange them into a word first. For example, enter HELLO to see which valid Scrabble words can be made using those five letters.
If you have blank tiles, enter ? for each blank. A blank can represent another letter, but it contributes zero points to the word’s base score.
2. Select Your Scrabble Dictionary
Choose the word list that matches your game:
- SOWPODS / CSW24: For UK and international Scrabble.
- TWL / NWL: For North American Scrabble.
Different dictionaries may return different words from the same letters.
3. Use Advanced Filters When Needed
Click Advanced Filters to narrow your search. You can filter results by:
- Starts With: Words beginning with specific letters.
- Ends With: Words ending with specific letters.
- Contains: Words containing a particular sequence.
- Word Length: Words with the number of letters you need.
You can leave these filters empty to see all available matches.
4. Find and Compare Matching Words
Click Find Words to generate results from your letters.
For example, searching HELLO with the UK dictionary can return:

Finding a useful Scrabble word isn’t always straightforward, especially when your rack contains awkward letter combinations. Our Scrabble Word Finder helps you explore possible words from the letters you have, so you can spend less time guessing spellings and more time considering your next move.

Sometimes your letters don’t form an obvious word. Instead of checking different combinations individually, you can see matching words from the selected Scrabble dictionary in one place.

Choose the Right Scrabble Word List
Different Scrabble word lists may accept different spellings. Our Scrabble Word Finder lets you choose between two supported dictionary options so you can search for words that match the rules of your game.
1. UK & International – SOWPODS / CSW24
For UK and international Scrabble, select SOWPODS / CSW24 (UK & International Scrabble).
This is the primary word-list option for our UK-focused website. It follows the Collins Scrabble Words tradition and is recommended for players using the corresponding UK/international rules.
2. North America – TWL / NWL
If you play using North American Scrabble conventions, select TWL / NWL (Scrabble US).
The North American list differs from the UK/international list, so searching with the same letters may produce different results. Check the dictionary edition required by your game or tournament.
What About ENABLE?
ENABLE is an additional English word-game reference list available in our word-details information. However, it is not a selectable dictionary in the main Finder. Membership in ENABLE does not automatically establish that a word is valid for competitive Scrabble play.
What About Word Meanings?
Definitions and parts of speech shown on ScrabbleWordFinder.uk may be provided using Princeton WordNet. WordNet helps explain what words mean, but it is separate from the word lists used to determine gameplay validity.
Scrabble Scores and Tile Values
Every result in our Scrabble Word Finder includes a base Scrabble score so you can compare the value of different words from the same rack. The score is calculated by adding together the standard point value of each letter.

Base score: 22 points
This is the word’s base tile score only. Your actual score during a game can change depending on double- or triple-letter squares, double- or triple-word squares, blank tiles, existing board tiles, and bonuses for using all seven rack tiles.

Blank tiles are worth 0 points, even when they represent a high-value letter.
What Is a Scrabble Bingo?
A Scrabble bingo happens when you play all seven tiles from your rack in a single move. In standard Scrabble scoring, this earns a 50-point bonus in addition to the score of the word and any board bonuses.
A seven-letter word is not automatically a bingo – the bonus applies only when all seven rack tiles are played in that move.

Find Better Scrabble Words from Your Rack
Finding valid words is only one part of playing Scrabble well. Choosing which word to play also depends on the board, the letters you have available and what you’ll leave on your rack afterwards.
Here are three things worth considering when reviewing your Word Finder results.
1. Check the Board Before Choosing a Word
A word may be valid in UK Scrabble but still be difficult to place on your board. Look at the available spaces, existing letters and opportunities to form additional words. A shorter word that fits a useful position may be a better move than a longer word with a higher base tile value.
Remember that our Finder generates words from the letters you enter. It doesn’t evaluate the complete Scrabble board or calculate every possible placement.
2. Think About the Letters You’ll Have Left
Before playing a word, consider which tiles will remain on your rack. Keeping a useful balance of vowels and consonants can give you more options on your next turn. For example, using nearly all your vowels might leave you with a difficult combination of consonants.
There isn’t one perfect approach for every position, but thinking beyond the current move can help you make better decisions.
3. Understand Longer Word Results
A standard Scrabble rack holds seven tiles. Although our Finder accepts up to 15 letters for exploring word combinations, that doesn’t mean you can play all those letters directly from your rack in a normal turn.
To form an eight- or nine-letter word during a game, you’ll generally need to combine tiles from your rack with letters already on the board. Always check the actual board position before deciding whether a word can be played.
