How Scrabble Scores Work for 7 Letter Words?

Every result in the 7 Letter Word Finder includes a base Scrabble score calculated from the standard value of the tiles used to make the word.

This helps you compare different seven-letter words before considering the layout of the board.

High-Value Letters

Letters such as Q, Z, J and X are worth considerably more than common letters such as A, E, I or S.

A seven-letter word containing one or more high-value tiles can therefore have a much higher base score than another word of the same length.

Blank Tiles Score Zero

When a blank tile represents another letter, the blank itself remains worth 0 points.

The score shown by the Finder represents the word’s base tile score.

Your actual score during a game can be different because of:

• double-letter squares;
• triple-letter squares;
• double-word squares;
• triple-word squares;
• existing letters on the board; and
• a possible 50-point bingo bonus.

The Bingo Bonus Is Separate

If a seven-letter word uses all seven tiles from your rack in a valid single move, the 50-point bingo bonus is added separately.

So the scoring concept should always remain:

Base tile score + applicable board scoring + bingo bonus where eligible

A seven-letter result only qualifies for the 50-point bingo bonus when all seven tiles from your rack are used in the same valid play.
