How to Use the 6 Letter Word Finder?
Finding six-letter words from your available letters only takes a few steps.
1. Enter Your Available Letters
Type your letters into the 6 Letter Word Finder. The tool searches the selected word list and returns words containing exactly six letters.
2. Add Blank Tiles if Needed
If you have a blank tile available, include it in your search. A blank can represent another letter when forming a word, but it contributes 0 points to the word’s base Scrabble score.
3. Choose Your Word List
Select the word list that matches the game you are playing. For UK and international-style Scrabble searches, start with the UK/international word-list option.
4. Use the Advanced Filters
If you already know part of the word, use the advanced options to narrow the results by starting letters, endings or required letters.
5. Compare Six-Letter Words
Review the matching six-letter words and compare their base Scrabble scores to find useful options.

Find 6 Letter Words Using These Letters
Have a group of letters and need a word containing exactly six letters? Enter them into the 6 Letter Word Finder to discover matching words from the selected word list.
The tool searches the letters available to you and returns only 6 letter words, making it easier to focus on relevant results instead of browsing a large general word list.
Find Six-Letter Words From Your Letters
You do not need to enter exactly six letters. If you have seven or more letters available, the Finder can search them for possible six-letter words while keeping every result restricted to exactly six letters.
This is particularly useful when several possible combinations can be made from the same group of letters.
Narrow Your Six-Letter Search
If you know something about the word you need, combine your available letters with the advanced filters.
For example, you can search for:
- six-letter words beginning with particular letters;
- words ending with a known sequence;
- words containing required letters; or
- words that can be made using a blank tile.
Advanced Options for Finding Six-Letter Words
The advanced options help reduce a large set of possible results to six-letter words that better match what you need.
Find 6 Letter Words That Start With Certain Letters
Use the Starts With filter when you already know the beginning of the word.
For example:
ST____ can narrow the results to six-letter words beginning with ST.
Find Six-Letter Words That End With Certain Letters
Use the Ends With option if the ending is already known.
For example:
____ER restricts the results to six-letter words ending in ER.
Find Words Containing Required Letters
Use the Must Contain option when particular letters need to appear in the result. For example, you can narrow your search to six-letter words that contain both A and R.
Use Blank Tiles
A blank tile can represent a missing letter and may open up additional six-letter possibilities. When a blank is used, it still contributes 0 points when the base Scrabble score is calculated.
Sort Six-Letter Results
Once the Finder returns matching words, sort them by Scrabble score or alphabetically to make the results easier to compare. Because all results on this page already contain exactly six letters, word-length sorting is not necessary.
Six-Letter Words for Scrabble
Six-letter words can be useful when your rack does not produce a playable seven-letter word or when a six-letter play fits the board more effectively. The 6 Letter Word Finder helps you explore these possibilities using the letters available to you.
Using Six Tiles From Your Rack
If a six-letter word can be formed entirely from six of the tiles on your rack, playing it would leave one rack tile behind. The value of that remaining tile can matter when deciding between possible plays, especially if you are choosing between several six-letter words with similar scores.
Board Position Still Matters
A word that appears in the Finder is not automatically playable in your current game. The available spaces on the board, existing letters and premium squares all affect whether a particular six-letter word can be placed and how many points it may score.
Can a 6 Letter Word Earn a Bingo Bonus?
A six-letter play by itself does not qualify for the 50-point Scrabble bingo bonus. A bingo requires you to use all seven tiles from your rack in a single valid move. For this reason, the scores shown for six-letter results should be treated as base tile scores rather than bingo scores.
Which Word List Should You Use?
Different word lists can contain different accepted words, so the results from a 6 Letter Word Finder may vary depending on the dataset selected.
UK & International Six-Letter Words
For UK and international-style Scrabble searches, select the SOWPODS option available in the Finder. This is the most relevant starting point for users playing with UK or international Scrabble word conventions.
North American 6 Letter Words
For North American-style play, select the TWL word list. Because word-list coverage can differ, a six-letter word accepted in one dataset may not necessarily appear in another.
What About ENABLE?
ENABLE provides broader English-language word coverage and can be useful for general word searches.
However, a word appearing only in ENABLE should not automatically be treated as a valid Scrabble word. For Scrabble play, use the appropriate Scrabble word-list option.
How Scrabble Scores Work for 6 Letter Words
Every matching result in the 6 Letter Word Finder includes a base Scrabble score calculated from the standard value of the letters used to form the word.
This allows you to compare different six-letter words before considering their position on the board.
High-Value Letters
Letters such as Q, Z, J and X are worth more points than commonly used letters such as A, E, I and S. A six-letter word containing one of these high-value tiles can therefore have a substantially higher base score than another word of the same length.
Blank Tiles Score Zero
When a blank represents another letter, the blank itself is always worth 0 points. For example, if a blank is being used as a Z, it does not contribute the normal value of a Z tile.
Base Score vs Actual Game Score
The Finder displays the word’s base tile score.
Your actual score during a Scrabble game may be higher or lower depending on:
- double-letter squares;
- triple-letter squares;
- double-word squares;
- triple-word squares;
- existing letters already on the board; and
- the exact placement of the word.
A six-letter word does not receive the 50-point bingo bonus simply because six rack tiles are used.
