7 Letter Word Finder

Find seven-letter words from the letters you have available with our free 7 Letter Word Finder. Enter your letters, choose your word list, add blank tiles if needed, and use the advanced options to narrow your results.

Every result is restricted to exactly seven letters, making the tool especially useful when searching for possible seven-letter Scrabble plays from your rack.

Use the 7 Letter Word Finder above to search for words made from the letters available on your rack. The tool returns only seven-letter matches and lets you refine the results with filters, blank tiles and word-list options while comparing their base Scrabble scores.

How to Use the 7 Letter Word Finder?

Finding seven-letter words only takes a few steps.

1. Enter Your Available Letters

Type the letters from your rack into the 7 Letter Word Finder. You can enter seven letters or a larger set if you want the tool to search for possible seven-letter combinations.

2. Add Blank Tiles if Needed

If your rack contains a blank tile, include it in the search. A blank can represent another letter when forming a word, although it contributes 0 points to the word’s base Scrabble score.

3. Choose Your Word List

Select the word list that matches the game or dictionary you want to use. For UK and international-style Scrabble searches, start with the UK/international option.

4. Apply Advanced Filters

Use the advanced options when you already know something about the word you need. You can narrow the search by starting letters, endings or required letters.

5. Compare Seven-Letter Results

Review the matching seven-letter words and compare their base Scrabble scores to identify useful possibilities. If you want to verify one particular word instead, use our Scrabble Word Checker UK.

Find 7 Letter Words Using These Letters

Have a set of letters and need to make a word containing exactly seven letters? Enter them into the Finder above to search for matching 7 letter words from the selected word list.

Instead of browsing thousands of seven-letter words, the tool checks the letters you actually have available and returns results that can be formed from them.

Find Seven-Letter Words From Your Rack

A standard Scrabble rack holds seven tiles, making this Finder particularly useful when you want to search an entire rack for a seven-letter word. Enter your rack letters above and add a blank tile if one is available.

Search From More Than Seven Letters

You can also use the tool with a larger set of letters when you simply want to discover seven-letter words from your letters. The results remain restricted to exactly seven letters regardless of how many letters you enter.

Advanced Options for Finding Seven-Letter Words

Sometimes you know more than just the letters available. The advanced filters can help reduce the results to words that match a particular pattern.

Find 7 Letter Words That Start With Certain Letters

Use the Starts With option when the beginning of the word is already known.

For example:

ST_____ can help narrow your search to seven-letter words beginning with ST.

Find Seven-Letter Words That End With Certain Letters

Use the Ends With filter when you know how the word should finish.

For example:

_____ER restricts the results to seven-letter words ending in ER.

Find Words Containing Required Letters

If particular letters must appear in the result, use the Must Contain option to narrow the search. For example, you might require a seven-letter word containing both A and R.

Use Blank Tiles

Blank tiles can significantly increase the number of possible seven-letter combinations.

Add a blank when one of your rack tiles can represent any missing letter. Remember that the blank itself has a value of 0 points when scores are calculated.

Sort Your Results

Once matching words are found, sort the results by Scrabble score or alphabetically to make useful seven-letter options easier to compare. Because this page already restricts every result to seven letters, sorting by word length is unnecessary here.

Seven-Letter Words and Scrabble Bingos

Seven-letter words have special importance in Scrabble because playing all seven tiles from your rack in one move can earn a 50-point bingo bonus.

However, simply finding a seven-letter word does not automatically mean it is a bingo.

A bingo applies when:

  • you begin the play with seven rack tiles;
  • the word uses all seven of those tiles; and
  • all seven tiles are played in the same move.

A blank tile can be used as one of the seven tiles, but it still contributes 0 points to the base letter score.

Why Search for Seven-Letter Words?

Finding a playable seven-letter word can be especially valuable because the 50-point bingo bonus is added on top of the score generated by the letters and applicable board bonuses.

The 7 Letter Word Finder can help identify possible seven-letter words from your rack, but whether a word can actually be played depends on the available spaces and letters already on the board.

Which Word List Should You Use?

Different word lists can contain different accepted words, so your 7 Letter Word Finder results may vary depending on the dataset selected.

UK & International Seven-Letter Words

For UK and international-style Scrabble searches, select the SOWPODS option available in the Finder.

North American 7 Letter Words

If you are checking words for North American play, select the TWL word list instead. Some seven-letter words may appear in one dataset but not another, which is why choosing the appropriate list matters.

What About ENABLE?

ENABLE provides broader English-language word coverage and can be useful for general word searches.

However, a word appearing only in ENABLE should not automatically be treated as valid for Scrabble. For Scrabble play, refer to the appropriate Scrabble word-list option.

How Scrabble Scores Work for 7 Letter Words?

Every result in the 7 Letter Word Finder includes a base Scrabble score calculated from the standard value of the tiles used to make the word.

This helps you compare different seven-letter words before considering the layout of the board.

High-Value Letters

Letters such as Q, Z, J and X are worth considerably more than common letters such as A, E, I or S.

A seven-letter word containing one or more high-value tiles can therefore have a much higher base score than another word of the same length.

Blank Tiles Score Zero

When a blank tile represents another letter, the blank itself remains worth 0 points.

For example, if a blank is used as a Z, it does not receive the normal point value of a Z tile.

Base Score vs Board Score

The score shown by the Finder represents the word’s base tile score.

Your actual score during a game can be different because of:

  • double-letter squares;
  • triple-letter squares;
  • double-word squares;
  • triple-word squares;
  • existing letters on the board; and
  • a possible 50-point bingo bonus.

The Bingo Bonus Is Separate

If a seven-letter word uses all seven tiles from your rack in a valid single move, the 50-point bingo bonus is added separately.

So the scoring concept should always remain:

Base tile score + applicable board scoring + bingo bonus where eligible

A seven-letter result only qualifies for the 50-point bingo bonus when all seven tiles from your rack are used in the same valid play.

7 Letter Word Finder FAQs

What is a 7 Letter Word Finder?

A 7 Letter Word Finder is a tool that searches your available letters for words containing exactly seven letters. Enter your letters, select a word list and use the available filters to narrow the results.

How do I find 7 letter words using these letters?

Enter your available letters into the Finder above and run the search. The tool checks possible combinations and returns matching seven-letter words from the selected word list.
You can also use filters if you know how the word starts, ends or which letters it must contain.

Can a seven-letter word earn a Scrabble bingo?

Yes, but only when you use all seven tiles from your rack in a single valid play. In that situation, Scrabble awards a 50-point bingo bonus in addition to the score of the play.
Not every seven-letter word shown by the Finder automatically qualifies for the bonus.

Can I use blank tiles to make a 7 letter word?

Yes. A blank tile can represent a missing letter when forming a seven-letter word.
However, the blank contributes 0 points to the base Scrabble score regardless of which letter it represents.

Can I find a 7 letter word that starts with specific letters?

Yes. Use the Starts With filter to restrict your results.
For example, entering ST can help you search specifically for seven-letter words beginning with those letters.

Can I search for seven-letter words ending with certain letters?

Yes. Enter the required ending into the Ends With filter to show matching seven-letter words with that ending.

Which word list should UK Scrabble players use?

For UK and international-style searches, begin with the SOWPODS option available in the Finder.
North American players can select TWL where appropriate.

Does the 7 Letter Word Finder calculate Scrabble scores?

Yes. Results include their base Scrabble scores, allowing you to compare different seven-letter words.
The final score in an actual game may differ because of premium board squares, existing letters, blank tiles and possible bingo bonuses.

Is every 7 letter word a Scrabble bingo?

No. A word being seven letters long is not enough by itself.
A bingo requires you to use all seven tiles from your rack in the same move.

How can I check whether a seven-letter word is valid?

Use our Scrabble Word Checker UK if you already have a specific word and want to check its supported word-list status, score and available definition information.
